Winter is right around the corner, which means we’re on the cusp of the coziest time of year. 🧣

Whether you live in a moderate climate or the frozen tundra (Minnesota) like me, chances are, you’ll be spending more time inside in front of a TV. 

It’s the best time to catch up on shows, watch football with loved ones, or play video games in the wee hours of darkness (AKA 8 p.m.).

With fantastic holiday sales going on, now’s the time to replace that old box if it’s in alignment with your values.

We did some research for you on the differences between TV’s & which are the best frugal wins!

📺 Your TV Buying Guide 

When you’re looking for a TV, there are two main types to consider: OLED and QLED.

🔘 OLED stands for “organic-light emitting diode”, which means that electricity passes through a thin layer of material to emit light. OLED TV’s have a high contrast ratio and wide viewing angles, making them ideal for competitive gamers. OLED TV’s are also energy-conscious, consuming less power without the need for a backlight. They’re also thinner and much easier to move! 

🔘 QLED stands for “quantum-light emitting diode”, meaning it uses quantum dots to produce colors & brightness. QLED TV’s are bright and well-suited to living room spaces. Because of the backlight, there’s a wider variety of colors and a higher vibrancy. These TV’s are the topic pick for bingers. However, because of the need for backlight, they are heavier.

📺 Our favorite TV overall is the Hisense U6 Series 55 inch. It’s a 4K Smart TV with all the best viewing options, like Netflix and Hulu, available in pre-downloaded apps. Right now, this TV is on sale for the lowest price it’s been in 30+ days, making it our top choice. 

🎬 Our favorite frugal win, though, is the TCL 55 inch Google TV. This TV has an amazing refresh rate, which means there won’t be any spinning wheels here! The best feature, IMO? The TCL has an automatic dimming feature, which means if you turn it on at 3 a.m., you won’t be blinded. 

🎮 Gamers, this one's for you. LG’s C3 series flat screen is AI-powered, comes with a 120 hertz refresh rate, and a magic remote makes it the ideal TV. Add to it the Gaming Dashboard and Game Optimizer, it will make those late nights a breeze!

🎥 Lastly, we have the best QLED TV: Samsung’s Class Neo 55 inch loves to brag that you can “see every freckle on an actor’s face” with how accurate the quantum matrix is. However, the real winning feature is the anti-glare technology! Never fear an early sunset with this television.
