Your TV Buying Guide
12/04/24 - Wednesday
Hi from Kim š
Winter is right around the corner, which means weāre on the cusp of the coziest time of year. š§£
Whether you live in a moderate climate or the frozen tundra (Minnesota) like me, chances are, youāll be spending more time inside in front of a TV.
Itās the best time to catch up on shows, watch football with loved ones, or play video games in the wee hours of darkness (AKA 8 p.m.).
With fantastic holiday sales going on, nowās the time to replace that old box if itās in alignment with your values.
We did some research for you on the differences between TVās & which are the best frugal wins!
šŗ Your TV Buying Guide
When youāre looking for a TV, there are two main types to consider: OLED and QLED.
š OLED stands for āorganic-light emitting diodeā, which means that electricity passes through a thin layer of material to emit light. OLED TVās have a high contrast ratio and wide viewing angles, making them ideal for competitive gamers. OLED TVās are also energy-conscious, consuming less power without the need for a backlight. Theyāre also thinner and much easier to move!
š QLED stands for āquantum-light emitting diodeā, meaning it uses quantum dots to produce colors & brightness. QLED TVās are bright and well-suited to living room spaces. Because of the backlight, thereās a wider variety of colors and a higher vibrancy. These TVās are the topic pick for bingers. However, because of the need for backlight, they are heavier.
Choosing a TV that aligns with your values isnāt always easy, but pre-ordering Jen & Jillās book is! Buy What You Love Without Going Broke explores values-based spending and offers practical advice when it comes to finances and our seasons of life.
šæ Our Favorite TVās
šŗ Our favorite TV overall is the Hisense U6 Series 55 inch. Itās a 4K Smart TV with all the best viewing options, like Netflix and Hulu, available in pre-downloaded apps. Right now, this TV is on sale for the lowest price itās been in 30+ days, making it our top choice.
š¬ Our favorite frugal win, though, is the TCL 55 inch Google TV. This TV has an amazing refresh rate, which means there wonāt be any spinning wheels here! The best feature, IMO? The TCL has an automatic dimming feature, which means if you turn it on at 3 a.m., you wonāt be blinded.
š® Gamers, this one's for you. LGās C3 series flat screen is AI-powered, comes with a 120 hertz refresh rate, and a magic remote makes it the ideal TV. Add to it the Gaming Dashboard and Game Optimizer, it will make those late nights a breeze!
š„ Lastly, we have the best QLED TV: Samsungās Class Neo 55 inch loves to brag that you can āsee every freckle on an actorās faceā with how accurate the quantum matrix is. However, the real winning feature is the anti-glare technology! Never fear an early sunset with this television.
Had enough TV time? Itās time for exercise! Expecting and Empowered is our favorite app for mamas & mamas-to-be. With workout Challenges & automatic syncing, Expecting & Empowered makes exercising fun!
