Happy wedding Wednesday!

While there may not actually be many weddings happening on Wednesday, it IS Wednesday and we’re talking about weddings. 💍🥂

Who can resist 🍂 crisp weather, changing leaves, and a cozy ambiance?

(Jen and Travis couldn’t— their 8th anniversary was yesterday. Cheers to the happy couple!)

Chances are, you or someone you know is getting married in the next few weeks and we want to give you a few money-saving tips to celebrate without overspending by splitting the tips 2 ways.

Pick what applies to you and choose your journey!

3 ways to save money on YOUR wedding:

1. Prioritize your expenses. Decide which elements of your wedding are most important to you and your partner. Hello, values-based spending!

This will free up money to spend on the things that matter (i.e. honeymoon? ⛱️ food? 🍰) and allow you to cut back on the unimportant stuff (i.e. color of the napkins? Placement of the chairs?).

2. Use digital invitations. You can send beautiful invitations both through email and text messages. 💌 This method has many perks; it saves money, is more environmentally friendly, increases rates of guest responses, and usually helps in organizing the guestlist.

Eric and I recently received a wedding invitation this way and we LOVED the text message updates along the way and easy to find wedding info right from our phone!

3. Think outside the box on your venue. I have friends who got married on a pickleball court, in a public park, at the Firehall, or in a community center. 🏕️ Heck Jen and Travis got married at a shuffleboard court (and it was beautiful!). You don’t need to feel constricted to a traditional banquet hall.

2 ways to save money as a wedding guest:

1. Group gifts AND shop sales. This tip is a double-banger since you can team up with other guests (ideally your friends and family who are also attending) to go in on a larger group gift which often means decreased expenses for everyone.

Once you’ve decided what to get, look for coupons (👋👋 Entertainment’s Digital Coupon Membership!), clearance events, and sales for that item!

2. Don’t feel pressured to buy a new outfit. While it’s fun to have a fresh look for a wedding, no one will be staring at you nearly as much as they are staring at the newlyweds!

🌶️ Hot take 🌶️ YOU CAN RE-WEAR YOUR CLOTHING! Even if you’ve already worn it to a wedding this season. 🤯

You have full permission to prioritize your financial well-being while also celebrating with friends and family. It’s fun to live in the radical middle. 😏
