Let’s start this week off right with a weeklong event brought to you by none other than the toy OG, Geoffrey himself. It’s Toys R Us week!

You might be wondering…

“I thought TRU closed all its stores in 2018!?”

You’d be correct but last year they reopened “mini-stores” in Macy’s across the country and this year they’re celebrating with a week of free toys and activities for kids. No purchase necessary!

🗓️ Here’s the schedule:

  • Tue, Oct 17th, 4 to 6 pm: FREE mini puzzle and sticker pack, with surprises from Melissa and Doug 🧩

  • Fri, Oct 20th, 4 to 6 pm: FREE Bracelet Making Kit 💎

  • Sat, Oct 21st, 12 to 2 pm: FREE Fischer-Price and Hot Wheels Activity Sheets, plus exciting giveaways! 🚗

  • Sun, Oct 22nd, 12 to 2 pm: FREE L.O.L Surprise Capsule! 👧🏻

🍝 October 16th, Tue is National Pasta Day! Nay, October is World Pasta MONTH! Olive Garden has brought back their Never Ending Pasta Bowl for the event and Carrabbas is giving away FREE PASTA to 6 lucky winners on their TikTok page, which surprisingly has only 620 followers despite being far superior to Olive Garden.

🏦 October 19th is International Credit Union Day. We love credit unions. They consistently offer lower rates than big banks and keep more money in your community and out of fossil fuels and shareholder pockets.

Catch our episode on Sustainable Banking to hear more about why we think everyone should keep their money local!

🚘 Your Car Repair Bill 🚘

Don’t try to deny it. Your car is an emergency fund magnet on wheels.

But here’s the thing: you shouldn’t be using your emergency fund on things you know are coming, like car repairs, fees, and maintenance. That’s where sinking funds come in.

AAA found that drivers put an average of $10,728 toward their new cars in 2022 — not including the purchase price. That’s a $1,062 increase from the previous year.

If you don’t have a transportation sinking fund, it’s time to open a high-yield savings account at CIT and start earning 4.65% APY on your transportation sinking fund. It won’t protect you against $1,062 in inflation but it’s a start! **
