This Week’s Money Move: Take a debt inventory

06/09/25 - Monday

Hey friends,

Let’s talk about a sneaky little money habit: pretending our debts don’t exist.

Avoiding your debts isn’t a strategy. It’s a hobby. (And a pricey one!). But when you know your numbers, you can make a real plan.

Watch us talk through how we tackled our debt on Instagram!

This Week’s Money Move is to: Take a debt inventory 🗂️

We’re not asking you to fix everything today. Just to look.

Step 1. Grab a notebook, spreadsheet, sticky note, or the back of a Target receipt. Whatever works.

Step 2. Write down what you owe. All of it. Even the little stuff.

Step 3. Check your credit report for free at places like Credit Karma or AnnualCreditReport.com. It’ll show you everything tied to your name so you can fix any errors and start working on increasing that score!

We recommend doing a debt check once a year. Even if you think you know, it’s good to make sure there’s no fraudulent debts tied to you.

And if you could use a little more help with this money move, our Spending Planner has a built-in debt tracker that does the math for you.

Just plug in your numbers, and the tracker will show your progress over time. You can prioritize payments, visualize your debt, and stay motivated as you watch your balances shrink.

No more guessing how much you owe or when you’ll be debt-free. Use code DEBTTRACKER for 50% off!
