This level of overconsumption is organized hoarding!
01/16/26 - Friday

Hey friends đź‘‹
This week’s episode might be uncomfortable.
But it is also clarifying, freeing, and honestly… overdue.
We are talking about the kind of overconsumption that does not look messy or extreme on the surface. The kind that hides behind bins, labels, and shelves.
Because having less clutter does not always mean we are consuming less.
What we mean by “organized hoarding” đź§
This episode is not about shaming anyone for having stuff. It is about naming a pattern many of us are stuck in without realizing it.
Things like:
Buying backups of things we barely use
Stockpiling “just in case” items that never get used
Decluttering and then rebuying the same category weeks later
Feeling anxious about running out, even when we clearly are not
When consumption is driven by aestheticism, fear, stress, or control instead of need or joy, organization alone does not solve the problem.
Why this matters for your money đź’¸
While very few people will get to the levels we highlight in the episode, it highlights the normalization of overconsumption and indulgent impulse spending.
Overconsumption rarely feels like overspending in the moment.
It feels like:
Being prepared
Being responsible
Collecting
But over time, it shows up as:
Money tied up in unused stuff
Crowded spaces that create mental noise
A constant sense of “I should stop spending” without knowing how
This episode helps connect the dots between clutter, anxiety, and spending habits in a way that’s compassionate and practical.
The real shift ✨
The goal is not minimalism.
It is not perfection.
And it is definitely not getting rid of everything you own.
It is learning how to:
Pause before buying “future you” items
Separate safety from stuff
Spend intentionally instead of reactively
When you change the why behind your purchases, the amount naturally follows.

Are You Sick of Health Insurance? 🩺
One area where intentional planning really matters is healthcare.
Health insurance isn’t right for everyone. Jill and I both use healthcare sharing. Jill uses HSA for America.
HSA For America helps individuals and families:
Find the right Health Savings Account and high deductible health plan
Understand how HSAs can lower taxes and build long-term savings
Get support instead of guessing when it comes to healthcare costs
If medical expenses feel confusing or stressful, this is a solid place to start learning your options.

Your takeaway this week đź’›
Overconsumption is not a personal failure.
It is often a coping mechanism that outlived its usefulness.
Awareness is the first step.
Compassion is the second.
And systems that support you come next.
Give the episode a listen when you’re ready. It might change how you see your stuff and your spending.
We’re always in your corner,
Jen and Jill
P.S. If this episode made you want to declutter or stop buying for a bit, start with curiosity, not rules. That is where lasting change begins 🌱
