Hey friends,

Happy Labor Day weekend! With this long weekend upon us, I imagine you’re considering what your next few days will look like.

Hopefully, it entails some rest and fun! 💃

I know for sure we all will be facing various types of money decisions this weekend and I want you to feel equipped to navigate those.

Everywhere I look there seems to be this binary narrative; this OR that.

Usually, 2 opposite things that we need to choose between.

Maybe you’ve experienced some of these:

  • Should I spend OR save? 💰

  • Have fun with friends OR complete isolation? 🛏️

  • Go out to eat whenever I want OR become a domesticated homesteader who churns their own butter? 🧈

  • Vacation now OR retirement later? ✈️

  • Beautiful, plush, reliable vehicle OR biking everywhere in the snow? 🚴💨

But it doesn’t have to be this way!

We can choose BOTH, and live in the radical middle.

Life in the radical middle means you don’t have to be all in or all out and that every decision isn’t all black or white.

What’s right for you lies somewhere in the middle based on your values, desires, goals, and more.

Not spending all your money on what influencers on social media are showing off or spending based on what your family or friend group guilts you into are pretty radical concepts.

So as you find your radical middle, this weekend AND in life, start by asking yourself:

  • “What options do I feel torn between?”

  • “What does it feel like I’m giving up if I don’t spend on that?”

  • “Is there a compromise to be found here? Can I have BOTH, just in a measured way?”

When it comes to your financial life, you don’t have to live by the rules prescribed by others.

We can hold the tension between what ‘experts’ recommend and what we know works best for us.

Tuesday’s episode is a rerun of one of our most famous interviews, Money Motivation For Moms with Cat Collins. Listen in as she encourages other moms toward financial and personal goals.

And if you are thinking about How to Prioritize Paying off Student Loans, don’t miss today’s episode where we had a discussion on debt and prioritization.

Jill’s picks for a stellar weekend.

Watch This: After Party. Some say my husband Eric looks like Ben Schwartz, and I can’t disagree. But also you should watch if you enjoy comedic murder mysteries.

Listen to This: For more on the radical middle and finding what that looks like for you, tune into last week’s episode 330 where we talked about this exact topic, What is The Radical Middle & How to Live it, only in even more detail!

Read This: The Book of Delights by Ross Gay. A compilation of short essays about life’s little joys. This a helpful read for anyone wanting to slow down, notice beauty, and practice gratitude.

Do this: Download this FREE Ultimate Investing Starter Kit from Inspired Budget. It has everything you need to know from understanding what kind of investor you are, which brokerage is best for you, choosing your retirement account, and selecting the right investments for your portfolio.

Eat This: Chicken burgers with garlic-rosemary mayo. One of my go-to favs for delicious and easy!
