Hello, hello!

Did you know that taking care of others starts with taking care of yourself?

According to this article from Southern New Hampshire University, practicing self-care leads to better quality relationships with others and mitigates burnout and lack of focus.

Meditation, here we come

We know self-care looks different for everyone, so we’ve rounded up a great list of free self-care activities you can choose from, and even do today!

🧖🏻‍♀️ Our Favorite Free Self-Care Activities

🎧 Audiobooks. Support your local library and escape for a few hours with a good book! Listening to an audiobook is the perfect way to destress while getting menial tasks done, such as dishes or laundry.

Use Libby or Hoopla to borrow books, and check out something exciting! While you’re at it, give your future self a gift by pre-ordering Buy What You Love Without Going Broke.

It will be the perfect, post-holiday, January read. AND the more support the book gets in the pre-order stage, the more likely publishers are to put out books like this in the future!

🕵🏻 Geocaching. Get outdoors & engage your brain by doing a treasure hunt! Geocaching is totally free and can double as a date idea or a fun family activity.

Try something 🆕. Sometimes, the best way to practice self-care is to expand your knowledge and skills! Follow different food bloggers & get inspired to make a new recipe by checking out our favorites, like Jenn Eats Good & RecipeTin Eats

💆🏻‍♀️ Spa Day. An at home spa day is easy to do and doesn’t cost any extra! Light that unused candle, play soft music, and dig out any face masks or lotions in your closet to elevate your relaxation experience.

Do the thing. Oftentimes our greatest source of stress is the thing we don’t want to do. The doctor’s appointment we’ve been putting off, checking the mail for that bill, or even getting our oil changed. None of these tasks are as “fun” as dancing or reading - but facing them will reduce our stress load nevertheless.

📊 Our final self-care tip is to put some $$$ in a high-yield savings account (HYSA)! Boost your self-love fund with a 4.50% APY over at CIT and wait for it to grow so that next time, you can go all out & spring for a massage (and mani/pedis too!) 💅 **

🍩 The DONUT newsletter! Knowledge is power and free, unbiased knowledge and news is priceless. If you’re not already subscribed, we highly recommend the DONUT. A weekly email providing you with enjoyable to read, impartial, and reliable news. If you like the Friendletter, you’re going to equally embrace the DONUT. 😊
