Heya, Friday friends!

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, there’s a lot of talk about gratitude, which is great!

We believe it’s one of the core components to not just a values-based spending plan, but also longevity and contentment in life overall!

I think in order to engage in meaningful and authentic thankfulness, we need to implement the curiosity we’ve been talking about in previous newsletters.

Gratitude requires us to pause, reflect, and pay attention to what we have (including what we have had and will have!). 🙏🏻

We’re talking about true gratitude that leads to contentment for the things and relationships entrusted to us.

We don’t find this level of appreciation by way of simply acknowledging: “Oh other people have it worse.”

But rather starting from an inward place of cultivating eyes to see beauty right in front of us. 🌸

We’re not advocating for rose-colored glasses either. Circumstances can really stink and we can still challenge ourselves to find something worth our gratitude.

We can ask: “What is there to be thankful for in this moment?”

Especially at times of feeling defeated or even confronting our own failures, this posture can really interrupt a non-helpful narrative and set us on the right trajectory.

As we practice gratitude; seeing and appreciating what we have, there is a positive correlation to our money.

We are less likely to spend unnecessarily, and more likely to find and live within our “enough.”

So here’s to practicing thankfulness daily and leaning into contentment!

On Monday, we talked about How to Simplify Your Money Management. This was a Jen and Jill “original thought special” as we shared our own perspectives, sans internet articles about what simplifying our finances can look like.

TODAY (Friday), we have a fantastic interview on Managing Money with Chronic Illness with Dr. Andrea Feigl. Whether you or someone you know is navigating life with long-term medical difficulties, Dr. Feigl speaks expertly to what’s important to consider when it comes to personal finances within this context.

Tune in wherever you get podcasts and let us know what you thought of the episode over on our latest Instagram post!

It’s my (Jill’s) favorite thing to spend money on! I buy that stuff up without guilt and chomp on it whenever I’m not podcasting. And speaking of things that are refreshing and mint-y, are you aware that you can save $ on your phone bill by switching to an MVNO like Mint Mobile?

Right now, Mint Mobile’s Unlimited talk & text plan with 40GB of 5G is just $15 a month. Check your phone plan now and if you’re nearing renewal, you should seriously consider this deal.
