Hello, hello!

We’re halfway through the week and here to give a little pep talk and savings inspiration. 😌

If you’re in the throes of gathering gifts for all your loved ones (and the obligatory gifts for those who may not fall into the loved category), we’ve got some permission to give.

Give used pre-owned gifts! Whether it’s something you own but no longer use or a find from the thrift store, a yard sale, Ebay, FB marketplace or thred-up; we can spread cheer without the pressure of buying brand new.

Hear me out.

I’m not talking about giving trash or broken things or undesirable stuff.

I am still condoning thoughtful generosity, just in the less consumer, more sustainable way!

We encourage searching secondhand FIRST for anything on the wish list. And sometimes we even find new, unopened items being sold at thrift shops.

So that’s a win!

Here’s some of my (Jill’s) favorite ideas for gifting pre-loved, low cost gifts:

1. Potted plants. 🪴 Whether a clipping propagated from your own house plant and placed in a pot from your home OR a potted plant you snagged at a yard sale, this is a great go-to gift year round!

2. A set of small, pretty dishes. 👩🏻‍🍳 Four to six hand-picked and thrifted along with a DIY scone mix for a little unnecessary luxury while enjoying some baked goods.

🎀 BONUS: Don’t forget wrapping papers, ribbons, bows, and cards can also all be found at the thrift store! You definitely don’t need to pay full price for these items!

If you’re like Eric and I (Jill), an early 1990’s Suzuki Samurai is your dream vehicle because it’s where all your childhood dreams converge.

It looks perfectly ready for you and Barbie to take on a safari to search for dinosaurs before ending the day at the beach. 🏖️

BUT let’s say you DON’T want to find yourself impulse buying this car. Then start saving up now in a high yield savings account! We like the one at CIT for growing our sinking funds since they are currently offering $4.65% APY. **

This is just a no-brainer for all your savings goals!

Until next time,
