Hey You!

I (Jill) am over here reflecting on the ways that a values-based spending mindset (and plan) has impacted me.

Ever since adopting this framework, I have experienced

  • Significantly less guilt and shame surrounding my purchases 🎉

  • Decreased impulse shopping 💪

  • Increased confidence with money 😎

Just to name a few!

Recognizing that my money is a tool that can help me get closer to the things that matter to me has been a game changer!

My financial self feels congruent with the rest of my personhood and that👏is👏a👏good👏feeling!!

But how do you know if your spending (or even savings) is aligning with your values?

Unfortunately, there’s no 3-step process to find that answer, but here’s a good place to start:

Take 10-15 minutes to look back over your discretionary transactions from the last 90 days and reflect on any one of these questions, considering how it reveals a possible value of yours:

  • On what did you spend the most money?

  • What story does your spending tell?

  • What do your transactions say about the things you enjoy or want?

  • Is there spending you are bummed about?

  • What would you want to change about your spending?

The more aware you are of your spending, the more you can bring your spending into alignment with the things you actually enjoy, want, and value.

We’re back to two episodes a week! The summer slowdown was fantastic but we’re getting right back in the groove of spending two hours with you each week!

Tuesday’s episode was on a hot topic, How Much Should You Tip? Cheap people give frugal people get a bad rep with tipping but there’s no need to overcompensate to make up for it. The articles in this episode will give you the insight to make the right tipping decisions!

Today’s episode is a special one. No articles, just us giving a Step by Step Guide to Values-Based Spending. And there’s a special announcement in this one too!

Tune in wherever you get podcasts and let us know what you thought of the episode over on our latest Instagram post!

🧑‍🌾 Digging Around 🧑‍🌾

Digging around in the dirt this weekend? Or maybe digging deep into your purse for loose change or even some dollar bills? While both can be fun, they can also both lead to some not-so-fun surprises (hello unwrapped cough drop from last season 🤢).

Try digging around instead for some knowledge and resources on improving your finances…
